Jury Duty!

So I went through the process of being selected as
a juror today down at the Kings county court. And I managed
to squeeze in some drawing.

Así que hoy pase el día en la corte civil de Brooklyn para servir
de jurado. Y manege hacer un par de dibujos.

This was while waiting for my name to be called.

This was while the two lawyers (who will be going at it in court, in the meantime I'll be
paying close attention to their arguments from the juror's stand) were
making their jury selections. So many questions....

I have probably said too much already.

Also, yesterday I rode the bus from Saratoga Park to Brooklyn Heights and back.
Aside from taking the liberty of secretly reading the whole 1st issue of
Batman vs Predator, which the fellow sitting next to me was reading.
I was able to also sneak in some drawing.

The Pope of St. Charles Brothel

Finished this about a week ago it's for a book of poems titled
Seared with Ink, Portraits of Life in Poetry and Prose.

The poem I got was The Pope of St. Charles Brothel;
and it is about a Pimp and his "duties". I had a lot of fun with the
drawing and I felt that my lines got to be very playful, which I enjoyed.

Bueno, terminé este trabajo como hace una semana. Es para un libro de
poemas titulado, Seared with Ink, Portraits of Life in Poetry and Prose.

El poema que ilustre fue
The Pope of St. Charles Brothel( El Papa de la Burdel de San. Carlos)
El poema trata de un "alcahuete" y sus "ocupaciones" diarias.
En verdad que me gusto mucho como quedo el trabajo en especial
lo suelto en que quedaron mis lineas.

Master Copy for The Day

Decided to copy some Zorn etchings this morning, the man was a genius
when it came to mark making. All his lines seem to be placed perfectly.
Did my best but Zorn is just way too good.

Hoy decidí copiar varios grabados de Anders Zorn, cuando se habla
de marcas en el papel, el hombre era un genio. Todas sus lineas estan
colocadas en el lugar perfecto. Hice lo mejor que pude, pero Zorn
es demasiado bueno.

The past month was a weird one, with graduating and all.
It's been really hard trying to keep
myself moving in the right direction.
Haven't been drawing as much as I should...which is terrible.
But whatever, more things to come soon. In the meantime
here are some sketchbook drawings.

My time at SVA is coming to an end. It's weird, I feel like I have been here for a long
time but at the same time it feels very abrupt.

Sketchbook Update

I’ve been furiously drawing in my sketchbook from life and from my head this past week. My goal? To say as much as I can about the form and character of my subjects with a minimal amount of lines. In other words, line economy. It’s been very tough but a lot of fun, here are some of my results. Let me know what you guys think.

Esta semana e pasado mi tiempo dibujando furiosamente de observación y de mi imaginación en mi “sketchbook”. Mi meta? Que mis lineas describan la forma y el carácter de mis sujetos con un minimo uso de lineas. En otras palabras, dibujar económicamente. Definitivamente a sido una prueba difícil pero a la misma vez ha sido bien divertido, aquí hay algunos de mis resultados así que dejenme saber lo que piensan.
